Sangkan Paraning Dumadi
This painting marks a pinnacle of consciousness, the result of a long quest to uncover the meaning of life, the purpose of existence, and an appreciation for life after death. Here, one discovers true essence, shedding all masks of falsehood to delve into the core connected with God. In this process, the ego dissolves, and the "self" becomes insignificant. A human cannot move without the One who provides motion, cannot breathe without the Source of breath, and cannot perceive color without the One who grants knowledge of color. Attributes and qualities all belong to God, and humans are merely vessels. To reach this stage, reason must be abandoned. All attributes and masks created must be stripped away. The only way to truly understand life is through "wusul" (spiritual attainment). Eyes are closed, the soul is connected, and it is there that the ultimate purpose is found. This painting is an artifact that continues the ancestral tradition of recording knowledge, much like they did in the form of palm-leaf manuscripts (lontar) with profound language. I believe that the awareness of this unity has been passed down through ancestral records. The next task is to continue the spiritual dedication (tirakat) for all future generations.
