A Sky Trapped In A Life of Remnant

After the rice harvest, there is a period when the paddy fields are left untouched before they are cultivated again. This period of abandonment usually lasts around two weeks. During this time, the remaining cut rice stalks, although not yet completely dead, no longer serve any reproductive function. The stalks may still produce green leaves, accompanied by weeds growing around them. During this period, the rice field has no practical function for the farmers. It is a time of abandonment, of being left behind. This is the “life of the remnants” that I refer to, and it becomes the setting for a symbolic event of powerlessness.
