Coast
The painting “Coast (Pesisir)” evokes a warm emotional space, where waiting and simple love converge. The coast is portrayed not merely as the boundary between land and sea, but also as the threshold between hope and reality, distance and the embrace longed for. Figures of families, lovers, and fishermen become symbols of waiting, laden with longing and expectation.
Through a warm color palette, the gentle technique of watercolor, and the touch of sungging (traditional shadow puppet painting) that lends depth of tradition and resilience, the work weaves together memories, prayers, and familial bonds. “Coast” is not just a depiction of place, but a feeling: longing, faithful love, and the belief that everyone who leaves will always return to the harbor of the heart.
