The Tale Of Corn
I am the child of a corn farmer, raised with love and shaped by the cycles of planting and harvest. But today, rain-fed fields are parched under El Niño’s impact, plagued by erratic rainfall, rising temperatures, pests, and diseases. Farming costs soar, and unsustainable practices harm soil health, while ancient cycles like Pranata Mangsa grow unpredictable.
Now, I am like a withering stalk of corn, in desperate need of care. If left untreated, I’ll be discarded as failed produce. Relying on chemicals and supplements alone is unsustainable. The soil, my foundation, is unhealthy, tested and worn. Yet, I still dream, hoping every kernel planted will grow and bring renewed hope to the farmers who nurture it.
