PrimordiPop

We just define PrimordiPop as "primordially popular". Which, as a Balinese person, is very close to my traditions and today it is side by side with pop culture, which of course is an imported habit. But in reality there is no problem, if only we could adapt this rigid view of tradition and even collaborate in accordance with the spirit of the times, it would certainly bring new formations and even new values ​​to the culture itself. In this painting entitled "PrimordiPop" I painted objects cut into pieces like a collage, in which I juxtaposed traditional icons such as the Balinese Kamasan wayang and the Rangda mask with pop culture objects and also pieces of pop colors. Also, the images of shoes that I present seem to be a "foothold" for this culture so that it continues to follow the spirit of the times. I liken the image of the mountain to the village where I live at the foot of the mountain. I don't know, I still often hear debates about tradition and the present, but whatever it is, if existence is still needed, anything as traditional as it is must move according to the times.
