Ngelekas
This work depicts environmental changes caused by human actions in response to their needs and the development of modern times. Humans are portrayed as the agents who clear and transform nature, while animals and other forms of life around them are also affected. Traditional elements and aspects of modern life are brought together in a single space, reflecting the shifting environment and the presence of local identity amid modernization. I interpret Ngelekas as “change,” referring to how humans are both a part of and a cause of the changes occurring within their environment.
