Kala Rau (balinese mythology creature)

$2,100.00

Kala Rau is an extraterrestrial being in Balinese mythology. This extraterrestrial creature consists only of a head without a body. At one point, it attempted to drink water from the Tirta Amertha (elixir of immortality), even though this water was reserved only for the gods and goddesses. Goddess Ratih, who knew this, informed the god Vishnu, who then threw his disc and decapitated the extraterrestrial being. However, by that time, the head had already touched the Tirta Amertha at the neck, granting it eternal life. The head then sought revenge on Goddess Ratih and chased her in the heavens.
