I am Rifai Prasasti, an artist inspired by exploration and experimentation. Hailing from a mountainous village, my work reflects intuitive processes and discoveries influenced by Anselm Kiefer and Alberto Burri. I define success as hosting prestigious solo exhibitions and inspiring others through innovative visuals. My dream is to exhibit internationally and establish my own gallery. For me, intensity, precision, and creativity are the keys to artistic growth.

Interview with Rifai Prasasti

Where are you from and how does that affect your work?
I am Rifai Prasasti. I come from a rural village located in a small city in the highlands (mountainous area). As for its influence on my works, there is some impact, but it’s not particularly significant.
Who are your biggest artistic influences?
Anselm Kiefer and Alberto Burri.
How do you define success as an artist?
In my opinion, success as an artist is when they discover something new—a captivating effect or visual—and are able to hold a solo exhibition in a prestigious venue (a famous gallery alongside the works of great artists) while inspiring others with their art.
How do you develop your art skills?
By constantly exploring various media and maintaining a high intensity of creation.
Describe your dream project.
A solo exhibition abroad and building my own gallery.
What is the main inspiration behind your latest artwork?
It flows naturally. I always enjoy the creative process while observing discoveries that I find interesting and artistic.
Is there a specific theme or message that you want to convey through your artwork?
No, I prefer to give art lovers and enthusiasts the freedom to interpret the artworks I create.
How would you describe your creative process? Is there a special technique or medium that you use?
My creative process involves enjoying the act of creating while observing effects from spray techniques, paint drips, palette play, brushes, and tools around me. When I use these during creation, I often find effects that I consider interesting to develop further in my works. Regarding specific techniques or media, it depends on how the medium is used and treated to achieve the desired effects.
How do you overcome challenges in creating art?
To overcome challenges in art, I ensure I stay up-to-date with developments in the art world and strengthen my management skills.
As an artist, what is your favorite quote?
Intensity, precision, and sharpness are the keys to success.
