Chroma of Emotions: Promoting Children's Well-being Through Art at LucyDream Art Event in Bali

LucyDream Art (LDA) hosted a "Chroma of Emotions" event at Swarga Suites Bali Berawa, Tibubeneng, North Kuta, Badung, Bali, on Saturday, May 11, 2024. The event was open to the public and featured a painting competition. Discussions on art therapy were led by Buana Alit and I Gede Jaya Putra, and Indonesian artist Marshanda presented a talk show.

“Chroma of Emotions” was part of LucyDream Art’s social program, ‘Seeds For a Child’ (SFac), which focuses on remote areas of Bali. This program targets children, aiming to foster their mental health through art.

“Chroma of Emotions" aligns with our social program to support the well-being of children in rural villages through art. Given the challenges many generations face in expressing themselves or sharing their thoughts, this event offered participants and guests a unique experience addressing mental health issues. Through the event, attendees were encouraged to explore art and colors in more creative ways.

The event also featured Indonesian artist Marshanda as a speaker during the talk show segment. Many people have their perspectives on mental health, and many feel ashamed or embarrassed about it. Marshanda’s way of addressing this topic was unique.

She has personally experienced these challenges, and art has been a significant part of her journey. At the event, we wanted to encourage many generations to become more aware of mental health issues and to accept and confront the barriers Marshanda had faced. Marshanda remains resilient, confident, and kind toward others. For us, she was the ideal person to share a different perspective on the stigma surrounding mental health.

Most importantly, this event was one of LDA’s efforts to support the sustainability of 'SFaC'. LDA has high hopes for the future generation. Through this movement, we could share that it was OK not to be OK. But more importantly, we wanted the participants to learn how to cope and, over time, stand tall with the dreams, joy, and abundance they had realized.

The event was also organized to showcase emerging talent through the live painting competition and encourage new artists. LDA aims to make budding and experienced artists feel welcome in the LDA community.
